Earth Hour

share

On March the 28th we participated in the global Earth Hour campaign by switching off all our lights for an hour. It was really nice to have dinner by a single candle light, and the hour went by without us noticing it. About two hours after "Earth Hour" we were still sitting in the dim light of our candle when I decided that I must take a photo for us to remember our participation in this campaign by.

In the spirit of the moment I decided to use the "Painting with Light" technique for my photo. I ended up taking several photos, and these three are my favourites. The two "flower" photos are of some interesting metal flower arrangement we have in a huge cement pot, while the hand-and-apple photo is of my wife's hands and is my personal favourite.

A New Life

share
Friends of mine (Frans & Cindy) was expecting their first born late last year and asked me to photograph them before the baby is born. With our very busy schedules it almost did not happen before Kristin was born. The two photos here differ only 4 weeks!

Cindy arrived for the photo shoot with a bunch of roses. I was eventually a bit skeptical, but once I saw what she had in mind, I could see the potential. I decided to convert it to monochrome and to paint the colour of the flowers back to give a better focal point.

I will most likely later upload more photos of Kristin, but this closeup captured the essence of that first session with her the best.

Kristin is obliviously growing at a tremendous pace at the moment, and we will definitely have a followup session in the very near future.
