It's all in the Mind

share

My first attempt at digital photo manipulation was done several years ago after I bought myself a film scanner. I had this idea for a photo for a long time but never had the courage to try it in my darkroom (I did quite a bit of photo manipulation in the darkroom using multiple exposures on the same photographic paper).
Equipped with my new digital tools (this specific image was done in Photoshop 7) I tackled the painstaking process of merging the images together. Looking back on this first attempt I can now see how little I understood of photoshop at that time, yet I managed to put it together.

I captured the photos at a local photo club practical evening photo session. (The models did not know what I was going to do with the photos but willingly posed as requested.)

I painstakingly erased (nowadays I will use masking tools!) the backgrounds of both photos, then did some surgery to make some space for the young model in the older model's head and then merge the two together.

The message I am trying to convey is: No matter how old we are, in our own minds we are still young and whenever we have the opportunity, our younger self will be released!

We are as young as we want to be!
